It's good that you have intention to save an animal. But first, one need to ask themselves, am I eligible to get a pet?

Requirements, terms & conditions

Adoption fee

Adoption fees are RM15 (as of 1th November 2023). This fully goes towards Haiwan Bukan Permainan’s donation bank. HBP is a non-profit NGO run by volunteers.

Pick-up

Adopter must be able to pickup the pet at the fosterer's place, or any location agreed by fosterer. As of 2023, most fosterers operating in Klang valley and Selangor. Personal pickup is encouraged, but arranging lalamove or grab is also acceptable. If the adopter reside outside Selangor, adopter is expected to commute to the fosterer's location to pickup the pet. Alternatively, adopter may opt for pet taxi service which they are responsible to find and arrange on their own.

Preparation

Adopter must provide cage setup and foods according to the standard. The standard benchmarked by HBP is the bare minimum. Adopters are encouraged to add more enrichment. As of 2023, the cage and diet standard are;-
Hamster cage and diet
Hedgehog cage and diet
Guinea pig cage and diet

Applications

The Haiwan Bukan Permainan (HBP) reserves the right to approve or reject an application. Rejected applicant that was rejected due to lack of knowledge on the pet proper care or due to unfit condition will not be blacklisted and he/she may apply for adoption again when they are eligible, in the future.

Adopter must be a legal age to sign the Adoption agreement. In such cases where the applicant is under 18 years old, applicant's official guardian must act as their representative throughout the application process. The guardian is also expected to be knowledgable on the pet proper care

HBP is making no representations or warranties about the condition, personality, or temperament of the pet. Adopter understands that this pet was previously unwanted or lost and may have been rescued from a dangerous, unhealthy and/or cruel situation. It is possible that this may have long-lasting effects on the pet and may make the pet unpredictable under certain conditions. Despite the circumstance, adopter acknowledge that adopt is always better than shop. Learn more about this here.

Following The Animal Welfare Act (2015), HBP warrants that the pet will be kept in appropriate conditions for its health and welfare and shall not be neglected in any manner. Adopter will NEVER breed the adopted hedgehog throughout its life as the lineage is unknown and it may contribute to inbreeding. Adopter will never put any risk or situation that can endanger, stress or breed the pet. Adopter agrees that he/she is not acting as an agent in the purchase of this pet and at no time shall the pet described herein be sold to a pet shop or anyone.
